Context matters. If you're a weekend mechanic with a spare car, you can take risks that a fleet operator shouldn't. But if a failure means a tow bill, or worse, a crash, buy the right part and follow the schedule. It's not expensive until you skip it.
Bottom Line
I used to think the best supplier said yes to everything. Now I think the best supplier says yes to the things they've proven, and no to everything else—with a recommendation for who should get the job instead.
